As the domain of this website suggests, I am Stanley Makafui, in case you haven’t noticed that yet. A few years ago, I threw myself a challenge to learn something different. Something other than what I was already doing – reading Bachelor’s in Public Health in the University. Well, I picked up a camera and now, it’s stuck in my hands – I don’t want to let go anymore (or maybe not soon).
After my graduation from the University of Health and Allied Sciences, I headed to Aflao for my mandatory national service, there I saved up a part of my monthly stipend for a camera – a Canon 650D (A.K.A. Canon T4i). This camera became my best friend and it opened a whole new world of possibilities to me.
On my own, I explored the world of Photography and Filmmaking through my camera and its slightly broken kit lens, initially as a hobby and now as a career. Starting out, I took a lot of photos and made a few music videos for some local artists which never got published (sorry, lol). I made a short film as a submission to a short film contest. I won all the price at stake (€400) just because I was the only participant. This gave me a very big revelation – more on that on another day.
One and a half years later, after my national service, my day job as a Pension Advisor moved me back to my hometown, Kpando, where I made several music videos together with my friends at Croberin for a year before moving to Sogakope, where I woke as a full-time freelance filmmaker.
My work has been aired on 4SyteTV, TV3, TV Africa, Pan African TV and some major streaming platforms including YouTube.
I have worked with artists such as Kd Bakes, KF Sare, Kasare, Trey LA, Bruno Kay, Deladem, Lega, PoundS and the list goes on and on.
Currently, I’m the Director of Videos at Croberin.
I have a huge online presence and you can follow my progress on the social media platforms below.
